Education Programmes

Education and in-service training is undergoing re-evaluation and redesign in order that far more attention is focused on learners’ all-round wellbeing, happiness and enjoyment of learning. The very process of learning is a key concern once more.

3Di Associates Education programmes, advice and support aim to help schools focus on pedagogy and classroom practice, developing enlightened approaches to learning and teaching that makes schools places which are vibrant, stimulating centres of excellence, where creativity, passion, imagination, individuality and compassion are watchwords for all.

Our approach to developing multiple intelligences focus on human values that are common to all of humanity, empowering young people in the development of  an intrinsic motivation to learn.

Here are some examples of the programmes that we can offer. These can be single in-service sessions or can be combined to create bespoke support.

Fostering creativity and imagination

How creative is your curriculum? How many times each term do your children and young people go off site to explore the surrounding area? How frequently do they engage in creative activity of their own volition; working with art, video, music, photography, dance, drama, etc? Are you providing them with the opportunities to explore the internet, following a trail of learning guided and supported by teaching & support staff with open ended, involving and challenging questions? How often are children and young people encouraged to think, to solve problems, to be creative, to set their own learning agendas, to develop their own love of learning for its own sake, and to contribute to the development of those around them?

At 3Di Associates, through the development of the three dimensional intelligences model, we can demonstrate how to think more carefully about the way that creativity and imagination can be nurtured in your school, how independent, personalised learning can be a reality ensuring that every child can enjoy and learn simultaneously, whilst always being positively challenged in their growth and development. We can advise you on how empathy can be an integral part of your school and how community cohesion can be at the centre of your values framework.

Developing Wellbeing

Our intention is to teach children and young people to have a love of learning, to want to learn, and to be excited by the learning experience. We want our children to develop self-worth and to value learning. We want our children and young people to value themselves and others and to recognise the importance and enjoyment in learning for the rest of their lives. The attainment of high standards will be an integral part of this, if children and young people are motivated by the opportunities your school provides and are willing to learn, behave well and attend school.

Through developing a coherent, appropriate and attractive curriculum within the three dimensional model, by looking at the relationship between IQ, EQ and SQ, by understanding behaviour management and identifying realistic wellbeing indicators, 3Di Associates can support you in addressing the key issues of behaviour and attendance in your school. We can advise you on universal support and review the interventions that you currently have in place for targeting vulnerable young people. With our unique wellbeing tracking system, e can support you in developing a carefully planned approach to identifying what you are doing with clear outcomes and identified successes for your school self evaluation processes

Collaborative Learning

How many times during the school day do your children and young people have the opportunity to work in collaboration? How many opportunities are there for paired and group learning? Once an individual piece of work has been written or developed, are there opportunities to share and review? As adults, we constantly support one another with redrafts and sharing of good ideas.

At 3Di Associates we believe that this is an integral part of learning and we can support you in ensuring that there are clear processes for enabling this to happen with your students that go beyond the traditional plenary session of individual lessons.

Peer support, mentoring and mediation can make a significant difference to the behaviour and wellbeing of your students. 3Di Associates  can support you in training and developing your students in these key aspects of peer support.

We can also review your processes for developing social and emotional aspects of learning to ensure that school staff, parents, carers and students are all familiar with the key components of social intelligence.

Understanding the relationship of multiple intelligences

How emotionally literate is your school? How do you know? Do you consider the emotional and social needs of your children, for example, when choosing literature and planning units of learning? Is there a balance between practical and written activities? Can every child have an experience every day in your school that is uplifting and stimulates their individual learning? Are there opportunities for children and young people to feel good about themselves, others and their immediate environment? How do you know how your children and young people are feeling?

These are some of the questions that 3Di Associates would like you to consider. With our support, your school community can begin to understand the relationships that are developing in your school. We can advise you as you take a visionary and innovative approach to learning, considering how the curriculum is truly reflecting, celebrating and valuing the diversity of the school and its people. We will help you to ensure that your vision for the school is reflected in every aspect of school life to ensure a cohesive, forward thinking learning community.

Understanding the language of multiple intelligences

We all understand what we mean by IQ. We need to ensure that our children and young people are literate and numerate and knowledgeable in order to enjoy their learning and prepare for adult life. With the developments in social and emotional aspects of learning we are more familiar with the need to support and equip young people in being able to cope with issues and challenges that may occur in their lives, and develop the skills and attitudes to promote good, healthy relationships. But are we as familiar with the development of spiritual intelligence for both ourselves and our pupils? Do we have the skills and indeed the opportunities to celebrate positive feelings – to allow time to consider and embrace our achievements and the awe and wonder around us in a meaningful way for all?

At 3Di Associates we offer a unique view on how we can ensure that each of these intelligences are valued and encouraged within the life of a school. We have a deep commitment to quality teaching and learning that fully acknowledges the need to develop and maintain positive relationships and an ability to wonder at the world. We will advise you as to how you can further develop IQ and EQ in harmony with the core needs and purpose of spiritual intelligence.

Tracking the wellbeing of pupils

How can students become involved in the formative assessment of their development in PSHE? At 3Di Associates we believe that it is vital that students are fully engaged with their learning, that they understand why they need to develop certain skills and knowledge and how they can manage their own learning. This is true of all aspects of learning, including social and emotional development and their general wellbeing. We can guide you into how you can use formative assessment within PSHE and SEAL work, so that young people get a realistic understanding of how they are developing in these areas, and what they steps they need to take to develop further.

Using ICT to track and summarise progress.

You may have an excellent PSHE and SEAL curriculum where students are fully engaged in their learning, and respect is an integral part of your school, but how do you know that each young person is making progress with their attitudes and values? How is this making a difference to their learning? How do you know they are developing positive human values?

On both a school and individual basis tracking is essential to acknowledge success and next steps.

3Di Associates has a model and a tracking programme that incorporates well being indicators for individual pupils. It provides an opportunity for students to be fully involved in their learning, and to be able to identify the next stages of their progress for physical, emotional, social and spiritual development.

PSHE in School

At 3Di Associates we believe pupil wellbeing is a vital component to learning and achievement. Through many reviews of the teaching of PSHE it is evident that not every school has put the development of emotional, social and spiritual intelligence at the core of its work and activities.

High achieving schools ensure that PSHE education is developed across every curriculum area and throughout each day, both in and out of the classroom.

3Di Associates can work with school managers, governing bodies, and heads of department to ensure that the new regulations and guidance on this subject are  understood and implemented throughout the school.

Human values and intelligence

A core set of values is at the heart of every school and indeed every human being. By structuring a cohesive whole school approach to a Human Values framework, you can ensure that there are shared values, owned and understood by all.

Through understanding and practicing human values there is an emphasis on the positive rather than reactive and coping strategies. This is at the core of the work that 3Di Associates can offer your school.

Being positive, looking at feelings and sharing a set of values will provide enrichment for the whole school community which needs to be reiterated throughout the school day and in every aspect of school life.

Participation

Communication and sharing is a crucial element within schools. Quality Circles and School Councils have made a significant impact in many schools. Are yours as effective as they could be? Do they have real power in the decision making process of your school? Are you responding to the advice and opinions of children and young people? In many cases, this is happening but still young people are suggesting that their voice is either not heard or not integrated into school development plans.

Pupil voice should not end there. How are your pupils supporting the development and indeed implementation of the curriculum? What opportunities are there for older pupils to be involved in the learning of younger ones? How are young people shaping their own learning and engaging in school and community development?

We can advise you on how to set up or further develop school and class councils, and encourage participation and active citizenship for your young people. We can provide advice and guidance on all aspects of pupil involvement. Furthermore, we can look at key ways of engaging all young people in developing their voice through ICT, video and DVD in an exciting and engaging way that gets their message across, whilst also providing them with key skills in understanding and using digital media.

At 3Di Associates we advocate ‘quality circles’ that make a difference to the way a school is managed and how it performs. Parents, governors, teaching staff, whole school staff meetings can work effectively using the Quality Circle model. In the classroom and in the staffroom we need to ensure that every individual has a voice and knows that they are being listened to.

The development of the ethos and culture of a school is vital. Using the three dimensional model of multiple intelligences will bring you benefits that will be owned and appreciated by the whole school community.
